Miss Hayhurst completed neurosurgical training at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Liverpool. She then completed fellowships in endoscopic skull base surgery, pituitary surgery and Neuro-Oncology at the University of Toronto, Canada with Dr Fred Gentili and at The Centre for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery in Sydney, Australia with Dr Charlie Teo.
As a result, Miss Hayhurst has a specialist interest in minimally invasive techniques (including endoscopic and endoscope assisted surgery) for all types of brain tumours, including pituitary tumours, acoustic neuromas, meningiomas and gliomas. In conjunction with her paediatric neurosurgical colleague Mr Leach, she also performs endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery in children.
